BECKY HALEY is a visual artist, working primarily in painting and drawing. Her work is haunted by photography, collaging various images to create new compositions and associations. These images are collected from historical archives, family photographs, and her own photography. Becky toys with how unrelated images can be combined to suggest possible narratives. Her compositions contradict time periods and locations to blur the viewer’s understanding. She is interested in where religion greets despair, silence harbours discreet cruelty, and sentimentality can be laid to rest.
